5 Tips on How to Take Care of Your Skin Naturally
With countless cosmetics and skin care in Singapore today, most of us can’t help but try each of them and do a trial and
error on what perfectly works for our skin and bodies. But in reality, harsh
chemicals are really harming our skin more than we know, and natural skin careis still the best solution to all our skin woes. It’s best to stick with
plant-derived ingredients such as chamomile, bisabolol, allantoin, lavender, camphor,
rosemary, thyme, aloe vera, etc. Here are some tips on how to get you started
on taking care of your skin the natural way.
- Gentle Cleansing
The face should be
cleansed gently so that its natural moisture won’t be stripped off. Even if you
don’t have sensitive skin, go for the gentlest formulas of make-up removers
such as organic wipes or micellar water. Your eyes and lips are fragile areas
and you might want to use oil-based make-up removers designed exclusively for
eyes and lips for better efficiency and for them to retain moisture. Opt for
mild, non-detergent facial cleansers such as milks, gels, or foams with gentle
ingredients to wash your face with, day and night.
- Exfoliation
We need to slough off dead
skin cells to give way to the new ones. There are a lot of organic body and
facial scrubs available in the market today, mostly with papaya, cucumber,
vitamin E, milk, and a lot of other healthy stuff. Make sure not to scrub
vigorously over any area for more than 1 minute. A gentle, circular motion is
the best way to scrub to keep the blood circulating and reveal smoother,
glowing skin.
- Moisturising
After stepping out of the shower,
slather on some moisturiser on your face and body while skin is still damp.
Some may apply toners before moisturising, but it will depend on your skin type
because some toners are drying. After moisturising, be sure to apply sunscreen;
better yet have a moisturiser and sunscreen in one. It’s time we take sun
damage seriously and protect ourselves before it’s too late. Natural sunblock
with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide would be your best bet!
- Hydrate!
The easiest way to healthy
skin is to drink at least 8 glasses of water. Of course preferably, it should
be more. Not drinking enough water will trigger the body to retrieve its
moisture from your skin, drying it out, which may lead to spots and breakouts.
- Live a Healthy Lifestyle
Of course with all these
products and tips, we should nurture our skin from within. At least 8 hours of
sleep is enough time for the body and skin to recuperate from daily processes.
Exercise definitely helps keep the blood going and will tighten saggy skin.
Daily dose of fresh vegetables and fruits are greatly beneficial for the skin,
most especially foods rich in Vitamin C. Lastly, do not wear make-up unless
needed. Let your face be ‘au naturel’ and let your skin breathe!
I’m sure these tips are not new to any of us, we
just need constant reminding that the best way still to a healthy body and skin
is a natural, holistic approach. Organic products matched with healthy and
hygienic habits will definitely make you feel refreshed and happier, making
your skin glow from within!
